Winter Holiday Math Games for Grades 2–5
A whole-class math game for the last weeks before winter break that still counts as test prep: one live-scoreboard board per grade with 30 all-new, standards-aligned questions about snow days, sledding, skating, mittens, hot cocoa and winter festivals. Cozy winter-stage art with no holiday-specific religious imagery, so every classroom can play.
Try a free 10-question sampler of each Winter Holiday board in the Teacher Library (one newsletter signup, no student accounts). The complete 30-question games, with the downloadable offline file, Start Here guide, Teacher Key with worked solutions and Kahoot + Blooket imports, are the TPT editions.

Questions per grade
Six skill areas × five values. $100 vocabulary, $200–$400 procedure and application, $500 reasoning and error analysis.
Offline HTML file
No student accounts, no internet after download. Works on a projector, Chromebook or laptop; scores save in the browser so a game can continue tomorrow.
Kahoot + Blooket files
One ALL-30 file plus six five-question category files for each platform, so the same Winter Holiday test-prep questions run as a self-paced review.
Grade 2 Winter Holiday Math Challenge
Six categories, five values each: Addition & Subtraction · Place Value · Adding & Subtracting to 1,000 · Measurement, Time & Money · Data & Graphs · Shapes & Equal Groups. Every tile is a four-choice question with a worked solution on the reveal, so teams talk through the math before points are awarded.
Sample question: “There were 18 mittens on the drying rack. 7 were taken home. How many mittens are left?”

Grade 3 Winter Holiday Math Challenge
Six categories, five values each: Operations & Algebraic Thinking · Place Value & Base-Ten Operations · Fractions · Measurement · Data & Graphs · Geometry. Every tile is a four-choice question with a worked solution on the reveal, so teams talk through the math before points are awarded.
Sample question: “Lena shares 36 marshmallows equally among 9 cups of cocoa. How many go in each cup?”

Grade 4 Winter Holiday Math Challenge
Six categories, five values each: Operations & Algebraic Thinking · Place Value & Base-Ten Operations · Fractions & Decimals · Measurement · Data & Graphs · Geometry. Every tile is a four-choice question with a worked solution on the reveal, so teams talk through the math before points are awarded.
Sample question: “A small snow fort took 9 minutes to build. A giant fort took 8 times as long. How long did the giant fort take?”

Grade 5 Winter Holiday Math Challenge
Six categories, five values each: Operations & Algebraic Thinking · Place Value & Base-Ten Operations · Fraction Operations · Measurement · Data & Graphs · Geometry. Every tile is a four-choice question with a worked solution on the reveal, so teams talk through the math before points are awarded.
Sample question: “What is the value of 4 × (15 − 6) + 8?”

December test prep, not a holiday worksheet
How does a round work?
Choose the answering team, then a category and a value. Read the question aloud; the team answers with the letter and explains its thinking. Reveal shows the correct answer and the worked solution, then award the points or choose No points. Twenty to thirty minutes for the full board, or one five-question category as a warm-up during the weeks before winter break.
Is it aligned to standards?
Every question is written to a named Common Core standard for its grade (printed beside each question in the Teacher Key), so the board works for state-test review, MAP Growth practice (suggested RIT ranges above) and everyday standards review. The suggested RIT range is a starting point for practice, not a score prediction.
What is free, and what does the TPT edition contain?
Each Winter Holiday board has a free sampler in the teacher library: 10 of the 30 questions (two of the six categories), playable after one newsletter signup, with a student link that needs no account. The TPT edition contains the complete 30-question game as a downloadable file that works with no internet, plus the Start Here guide, the Teacher Key with worked solutions for all 30 questions, and the Kahoot + Blooket import files. Nothing in the TPT edition requires a signup or a visit to this site.
Are these the same questions as the year-round games?
No. Each Winter Holiday board is a separate set from that grade's year-round Math Challenge, so you can run both in the same year without repeats.
What else is in the series?
The same live-scoreboard format comes in a Halloween set for October and Valentine's Day set for February, plus a year-round Math Challenge Game Show set ↗ — each with its own 30 questions per grade, so none of the four boards repeats a question.
